Setup values are saved to flash memory. Pulses per mile, uS per gallon, etc. But now that you mention it, would it be that hard to have the raw data saved to flash memory so the thing didn't need to be on constant power? If you're out of variable space, how many of the setup parameters really need to be changed - can't we go back to hardcoded for most of those (of course you'd leave the calibration parameters in flash for dialing in)?

Just a thought.

I don't know that it's a problem guys. Someone please put their ammeter to it already.

Saving to eprom (not flash) is a bit of an issue because there are a limited number of writes, and of course you cannot write the eprom once the power is disconnected (which is when you would want to do it).

And of course there is the lack of space to do much of anything else coding wise with, i.e. some fancy power saving scheme.

Someone needs to test it.
