Get a beater and pocket the difference. And tell him women don't respect a man who can't figure out what he should drive.

Would not get a used dual clutch. Not without a warranty guarantee.

Is that the one with the faulty cam-position sensor?

Our local ones also had an issue with fuel tank straps failing...

Cracked manifold
Worn out drivers seat
Perpetually warped front brake rotors
Bouncy rear suspension
Squeaky front suspension
Erratic fuel gauge
Etc

I think there were TSBs to address most of these things but I was long off warranty and my local dealer wouldn't touch it.

It's rarely ever a good idea to buy a new model of a vehicle. Having said that, it's rarely a good idea to buy ANY product right when it comes out. Most companies let the consumers figure out the remaining problems that initial product testing didn't catch.

Used Corolla. Boring..probably, but very reliable and decent fuel economy numbers and not many of them are modded at all. Resale will be decent.

which car should you favor for best FE :

a car that is light

a car that is aerodinamically efficient

or a car with an efficient small engine ?

(in this exercise you are not allowed to swap the engine later on)
