Cedric Lynch - Natural Born Ecomodder

If you haven't already watched the 2011 film "Charge" you should. It is a film about the birth of the electric "Zero TT" race at the Isle of Man. It follows the fortunes of several teams, many of which use an Agni motor. This is a design of motor produced by Cedric Lynch. The motor produces approximately 20bhp. The most interesting part for me was the interview at the start with Cedric Lynch. It shows him tooling round in his streamlined FF electric motorcycle. I have copied a link to a youtube video below.

Cedric Lynch's 60mph Electric Bike - YouTube

I am really surprised that there hasn't been more interest on this forum about Cedric and his achievements. His bike can cruise at 65mph and go 150 miles between charges. He has done 50k miles on/in it. He says that it uses one of his Agni motors and a lithium Thunder Sky battery.

Does anyone know Cedric well enough to get him involved in the forum because I think his advise and general contributions would be greatly worthwhile to many.

Anyway, if you have Netflix watch Charge as it is an excellent film, and if you get chance have a Google about Cedric and even check out his company website Agnimotors.com

That is all

Watched "Charge" the other day. Interesting stuff.

I found the Motoczysz effort to be very interesting. Completely opposite approach from Lynch and his designs.

Apart from using 3 of his motors initially. And wiring them up wrong.
I admit I was rooting for Motoczysz too. Their luck changed in 2010 (when they adopted a US motor!) and they haven't really put a foot wrong at the Tt since. I was more talking about Cedric Lynchs economy engineering and his belief in the same concepts as Ecomodders. The overall teardrop shape is known to be the most efficient aerodynamic design, but car manufacturers must deviate from it as they want to create character in their styling. Lynch talks about this in some blogs, comparing aircraft design, which has changed comparatively little in the last 50 years.

Yes 'Charge' is a cool movie! I mentioned this a little while back:

His electric streamliner can cruise at 60mph on ~1.2kW (~2HP) and has a 150 mile range. Cedric is the guy on the right with the bare feet:

What amazes me is those are bicycle tires he's using at 60mph!

Having met him a few times I can say he is without question a true affable eccentric genius. Old school now but still active asfaik.

I watched this movie 'Charge' last weekend. I loved it. Somehow I missed this thread before.

I thought this thread deserved a bump!

@retepsnikrep: You have met Cedric? Now that is cool.

Agreed! A very cool movie. It still amazes me that they can do the whole 39 mile course at over 100 mph average on battery power.
