Angry Character Gibberish

Recently completed OBDuino using NKC Freeduino and NKC HD44780. Code loaded just fine (after disconnecting Tx and Rx from Freeduino). All of the characters are gibberish. Help??

usually a wiring problem or a bad lcd. When it happens to us we hold a good lcd in parallel and bounce the power, if it looks ok on the good lcd an not the one in question, then it is a bad lcd problem. Might not be an option for you, so double check wiring.

Angry Still Bad Characters

I checked my Freeduino and HC44780 LCD with a "hello world" sketch; worked fine. So I'm back to trying to get the OBDuino to work, but I can only get "alpha" "x-bar" and solid block characters (although I did get a ISO9141 or something like that after one reset).

Would very much appreciate any further recommendations...

OBDuino Issues

Have double-checked connections a number of times, still no luck w/ OBDuino. Have only Freeduino and an OLED LCD (HD-44780-conforming) hooked up (no transistor nor ISO bus transceiver hooked up).

What should I be checking: software version? Do I need hooked up all the way to the car OBD port?

I'm at a loss -- help please!!
