The one I keep in the toolbox is the type with the needle and dial and red and black leads that you plug in. I got it fairly cheaply at an auto parts store, though I don't remember the brand. It is quite accurate. The one mounted on my dashboard was on sale but was still a bit more costly ($48). Appearance mattered for me in picking the for the dashboard. But it is also accurate. It is a digital readout Glowshift meter. I like the purchase. I didn't have to duct-tape anything to my dash.

Black and Green will be rebuilt over decades as parts die--until it becomes a different car. Goal is only 60-70 mpg at posted speeds. I'm not trying for highest possible mileage.

Calculators: standard deviation, Ohms Law, & drag HP losses.

...just connect (and tape) the leads from your 'bench' digital Volt-Ohm-Meter (VOM) to a cigarette-lighter "plug" from Rat-Shack...and, viola', instant plug-in voltmeter!
