And to think I have the empty hole in my dash that I could just stick something in and get 40 MPG in my beat up ole Ranger.

Don't plug that dash hole! You can slide the back window open in your Ranger, then the air will flow from that hole out the window, reducing drag.

I remember this sort of thing discussed before - perhaps on another forum. Someone ordered one since the price was trivial, just to dissect and found that it contained a couple electrolytic capacitors - I guess the general idea is to reduce 'alternator noise' in the electrical system so all of the sensors, injectors, etc have as stable a reference voltage as possible. But expecting a few microfarads tied to the cig lighter to make that difference is a stretch...
