Civic VX Arm Rest: Creates holes in your shirt?

So, I keep getting holes in my right arm/elbow on my dress shirts.

I've narrowed it down to the Civic VX arm rest. I think 3 hours a day of leaning on it is doing this to my shirts.

Anyone else have a similar issue with the armrest design? Just trying to survey a bit, before I start tacking the thing to make it a bit more..."plush".

Maybe it's something else in my life, but I can't think of what. If it was my work chair, I would think I'd have holes on my left elbow as well.

I haven't noticed any effects on my clothes but I do pound driver's door armrests right out. :/

I think I'd rather have hard plastic or metal rests than padded because of the divots I put in 'em.

We have the same car, but mine is a dx auto.
As far as i know our car never came with a stock armrest.
Are you talking about the arm rest on the door ?

I notice you said the arm rest on the right, and unless you have a right hand drive, that would mean the door rest, correct ?

I have no center armrest on mine either. Didn't know some VX's had them. I'm kinda jealous though cause I wish I had a center armrest sometimes.

My VX, apparently, came with the optional USDM armrest. I understand their is a longer OEM armrest, avail for an overseas market (EDM, JDM, not sure which?). Mine is USDM, and about only 9 inches long. So, my elbow rests on the front end of the arm rest. It's not really an armrest, but more of an "elbow rest". I think that the sharp/limited point of contact is what is causing the issue. I don't use the door card arm rest.

My past build, 94 Accord, came with a broken door card/sill armrest. I fixed it in a rather un-orthodox way. Let me see if I can find the permalink from that build thread...

Here is is. Everything on the door car/interior resto is on this page.

While we are talking about the same car here, how poor is the air from your vents when using just the fan ?
This is my only gripe with this model car.
The airflow is just sad. I can fart harder than this thing blows.
Also, I can have the vent lever all the way on the cold side and it still blows slightly warm air unless it is freezing outside.
In the summer time, the vents are useless, and just blow hot air on me even if the temperature outside is 60-70 degrees.
I made sure the vents were not clogged, and cleaned out the fan - it helped only a little.
Just curious if yours are the same.

Now about that armrest ... ( back to the original topic )
