Civic vx tires
What are my tire options for this car? I called Costco and it seems Michelin no longer makes tires for this car. I really liked these defenders as they had decent grip and got good mileage. What 175/70/13 tires are still made?

There are bunches of them on eBay. Hell, Walmart even still carries some.

Upgrade to civic HX (14 inch) rims and run Bridgestone Potenza RE92's.

I'll keep an eye out for hx rims and in the meantime going to order some tires off eBay for my vx rims.

Thanks for asking and thanks Baltothewolf. My new (to me) not-Civic shipped with 175/70/13s and now has 14" alloys with 185/60/14s. I knew there was a preferred LRR tire, but I didn't remember.
What's the go-to tire for all-season mud and snow? |
Wow. Tirerack.com no longer seems to carry Michelin Defenders in 13" size, but they have several 175/70-r13 tire choices still. So if you are not after LRR... get one of those. I have the VX wheels and have had Michelin Defender LRRs on them for several years. I love 'em. Excellent longevity. If I had to upgrade I would skip over 14" and go to 15"... you'll get more selection. Here is my list of swaps and weights gathered from all over le internets:
Possible wheel swaps for gearing and/or weight advantages: 13" CRX HF OEM (just under 13lbs) 13" Civic VX 8 spoke (9.7 lbs.) 14" Civic HX 8 spoke (approx 11.75 lbs) 14" first generation Honda Insight (11lbs) 14" Civic Hybrid 2003-2005 (approx 14 lbs) 15" Mini Cooper R81 Imola 7-hole (12.1 lbs) 15" Mini Cooper R86 star-spoke (15 lbs) 15" Mini Cooper R96 7-spoke (13.8 lbs) 15" Enkei Classic J-speed (14.1 lbs) 15" Enkei RP-F1 (9.5 lb) 15" Kosei K4R (10.7 lb) 15" Konig Helium (11.2 lb) 40mm offset, hub bore 73.1mm 15" Acura Integra GSR (94-95, 16lbs) Other size specs to double-check for any possible swap: Offset 35-45; bolt pattern 4X100; lug size 12mmX1.5; hub center bore 56.1mm minimum (larger needs spacer rings). Hope that helps. james |
Sweet list cacivic. I called my local discount tire and the guy is getting a defender set from the East coast. I like them as they get good mileage and handle great for a lrr tire.
