Not sure about that guy's intentions, but that camper would actually be interesting to attach into a 3-wheel mini truck I saw in Uruguay when I went there early this month

Hello Sk, Yes we are! We recently returned from a 5626 mile trip to see our daughter who returned home from an overseas deployment. All said, It was a wonderful trip! I actually bought a second CVT Mt. Rainier model and had a custom made roof rack built for our Excursion to hold them both. With the two CVT's mounted on top to the Excursion, we made our trip and enjoyed using them both. :{)

Hey X, here is the company's site to read all about them. CVT RTT's are the best. We so enjoyed using ours. While going through Texas, just east of El Paso we stayed one night in a horrific wind storm with 50mph gusts! Of course it was a beautiful evening with just a light breeze while we stopped and got set up. We seriously just finished the last awning stake and the breeze turned into an incredible windstorm that lasted all night and well into the next day. It took 6 of use to safely close both RTT's and get out of there. The folks in the office that morning stated that they had no seen a wind storm like that in many years and worried about us. Congrats to CVT for a well made Roof Top Tent!!!

and here is a short vid to enjoy! It is in Russian, english comes in at the end but he did a great job. Maybe i'll do one in english, lol!

Cascadia Tents are local to me; I see them mounted on pickup lumber racks on occasion.

Don't know how I missed this project - but - very cool!
I had a TDI Beetle and they're built like a brick sh1th0use so it should have no problem with that rack.
Nice job btw!

My brother in-law and his family just moved to the Bend area. He started a new job there. Although he likes the area, he says he misses the Elk and Family/Hunting camp we have always had here. Enjoy! :{)

I noted the OP said he didn't find a travel trailer of suitable type to his desire. For anyone else with something, say, mid-size SUV or sedan or so, I'd start my search using as default the brand HI LO .

Trailer frontal area calculations mean a bit more than so-called "weight".

I'm not here to start a hijack, but the wind storm story (and the chance of being a "bear taco" in the wilderness) leads me to offer this brand as starting comparison. Costs are different upfront (as are capabilities), but FE may be the same versus roof mount. (An Excursion, OTOH, is easy to pick on. My 1T Dodge pulls my 35' TT at 15+ mpg)

Thanks for thread. Great!

Re-reading the thread I understand that your brother-in-law is with CVT. I may have shaken his had yesterday. I'm bad with names. () Paul? We talked about seeing Lamborghinis and Aston Martins dropping kids off at his elementary school.

I missed a turn westbound (on/off) 20 and was looking for a place to ask directions when I found an orange Baja Bug with a CVT topper so I stopped there.

They have a nice big room they can grow into with a rock wall in back. They had an early Land Rover and BMW 325i(!) with toppers on display.

And yes Xist, they had a free-standing unit that was the Denali on legs. I suggested putting two 'eyeballs' in the upper windows and hanging a red towel in the doorway. When I get a cable to suck the pictures off my camera you'll see why.

Hey FB..., Sadly the little blue Beetle was t-boned in the driver's A pillar and totalled by the ins company. Now we have a bright yellow 04' that my wife loves and has not been about to let me do anything to it...like camper racks lol! It only gets 44-ish mpg. I miss the old blue '00. 3" open exhaust, man that was fun! :{)
