Convert S10 to all electric

I really love this kit

S10 Kit

talk about the perfect eco modification. This is a much better way to do all electric. Now I just need to look at the math of the conversion to see if it makes sense.

I figure $10,000 for all the components and for everything including the labor. Well maybe I better make that $15,000 worst case.

But I need to read how long the wet lead battery used for the conversion (golf cart batteries) will last over a five year period, and see how often I need to replace the batteries. Also need to see how long the brushes last on the electric motor. Not sure what the weakest link would be in this whole set up.

Given the aerodynamic developments for the truck cap in the other forum it seems this might be the perfect vehicle.

The S-10 2wd is an ideal vehicle for this conversion.

Chevrolet made all electric S-10's right from the factory, might save you some time and money to pick one of them up instead... Although I'm having a touhg time finding one for sale to provide a link for you. A couple of months ago there were quite a few electric s-10's and ford rangers on eBay, but I can't seem to find one now.

I like the idea of converting a truck to EV. Perfect place to put the batteries is in the bed giving a nuetral front rear weight balance. Everything is easy to get at too. If I ever do an EV conversion it will be an el-camino or ranchero.

This company has conversion kits for a Geo Metro at $5000 to $9000 (which does not include the initial vehicle cost).

Electric Geo Metro

Again I need to look at the math behind the conversion.

Batteries are $300 to $800 per year according to one article.

I am starting to lean more towards a junkyard Toyota Prius or Hybrid Civic (fixable) with the conversion kit to add batteries and a controller.
