Cool article: Honda 1.5L i-VTEC

I am looking to buy a Honda Fit, so this peaked my interest, but I thought some of you might enjoy it to. Seems like that little engine has some cool features, a lot of it doing with FE.

Neat! Thanks for sharing!

My fiancee has an 09 Fit Sport AT. I was wondering why it goes willingly at low engine RPM. Guess Honda finally figured out how to make low-end torque. I WOT redlined it once as part of the break-in process, and it just pulled from low RPM up to the ~6800 RPM redline. Usually I use the paddle shifters to shift before 2k RPM, as 1st and 2nd are really aggressive.

She's managed 40 mpg out of it on highway trips. My best is 42 mpg when the car had ~600 miles on it.

That is what I am hoping to get. Then I will work on some aero mods. There is a guy on fitfreak.net getting 60+mpg using hypermiling techniques.

There was a cut away of this engine at a recent motor show and it really is a first class design.

A great analysis as well and thanks for posting.

Cheers , Pete.
