GIMP has been easier to use for me, but I don't think I know how to do that either.

Christ, I don't have the advert. right in front of me, but I remember Ford/Mercury bragging about how that the cars roof slope and trunk added downforce.
( Just a useless tidbit of information that puzzled me at the time. )

If you look at the car from the side and superimpose a Civic hatch over the two, you would find that the Cougar is almost a Civic hatch with a decklid extention set really low.
I have wondered for years about what the cars wake would look like.

I've seen this in my head, as well.

Anyone want to model it on that airflow mapper thingy program?

Rear Window Angle

As far as the sharp rear window goes, it probably doesn't do much to hurt you. In Hucho's book, you will see that drag goes down with a rear slope of up to ~15 degrees, then get's worse to ~30 degrees, and after 30, it GETS BETTER and stays flat from there on. So unless you are going to put a 15 degree trailing end on the car, try the spoiler idea.
*this is all from memory, so I will have to look when I get home, anyone feel free to chime in and correct me*

Frank -

I did two comparisons of the Fusion "under the bubble" :

In this picture the front window is under the bubble :

In this picture the rear spoiler is under the bubble :

From the above, I think the "safest" aero thing to do would be to make a shorter spoiler. Get the ztyle of the spoiler, but keep all of the car "under the bubble" for aero.
