Added Zip lock baggie to the list for the cell phone. After 25 minutes in the rain the phone is not in the best of shape. Hopefully airing out over night will bring it back to life.

No I think the record speaks for it's self. Not many University have 3 National Championships.

Have we? I didn't know this...no one talks about cycling. We are hosting the eastern divisions championships though, which is sweet since I'll prolly be in the in the slow ass class...

Our figure skating team has won ncaa for 4 years and nordies have for a while too, hockey is also pretty decent...

I always carry with me:

frame pump
spare tube
patch kit
tire levers
allen key for seat post and handelbars
my wallet

All of this will get me out of a flat tire. I would recommend having a chain breaker and a cell phone too. I had one flat this year I didn't have any tire levers on me so I had to use my keys and some strength. One time I managed to have a crank arm fall off (with platform pedals) That was a long 3 miles back.

My commuting "kit"
Crank Bros Multi tool - various allen wrenches, screwdrivers, chain link remover, nipple wrench.
Tire lever
Patch kit w/ glue
Small adjustable wrench (about 6" long)
Extra AAA batteries for my taillights
Spare bike chain "quick-link"
1 gallon ziplock bag (keeps the seat dry if parked outside)
Clear saftey glasses for riding in the rain/wind. (getting crap in your eyes sucks)
2 small bungee cords (about 8" long)
Full size frame pump
Kryptonite Evolution mini U-lock

If I bring one of my panniers (which I usually do) I also bring the following:
2 medium bungee cords (about 18" long)
1 large bungee cord (about 24" long)
2 Velcro straps (about 24" long, hooks on one side, loops on the other)
6' Kryptonite Cable and Big eff'n padlock

umm...nice turtle....

This thread has not been updaated since 2007! But I am currently building the bike bag (rebuilding really). In saddlebags under the seat, in the triangle, and on the handlebars:
Gloves
Lezyne mini tire pump
tire patch kit & levers
A small rag
Two replacement tubes
Pressure gauge
Philips screwdriver
2 wrenches (gonna replace wrenches... bulky & heavy)
Alan keys
AAA & AA Batteries for lights

See my car's mod & maintenance thread and my electric bicycle's thread for ongoing projects. I will rebuild Black and Green over decades as parts die, until it becomes a different car of roughly the same shape and color. My minimum fuel economy goal is 55 mpg while averaging posted speed limits. I generally top 60 mpg. See also my Honda manual transmission specs thread.
