KDE? I beg your pardon? If I wanted an interface that behaved like Windows, I would have just got Windows. I use FVWM2 - and a very minimalist implementation at that.

Our IT forbids turning the computers off for the night, claiming that that is when they update.
So I'm late one day and in a hurry to log in, I nudge the comp to wake it up, and it says "Restarting Windows. Installing update 3 of 17."
So maybe all of the computers are updating now? No, everyone is working, and when a colleague wants to start his shift an hour later, that's when his computer updates.
So why can't we save power and turn the boxes off at night?

Second work-related annoyance: We troubleshoot devices which can be connected via USB and read with special software. We get many calls with either connection or software issues. Wouldn't it be easy if we could hook a device up to our computers to see what our customer is seeing, and walk him through the solution step by step?
No, our company decided it would be easier for us, and funnier for them, if our USB ports were blocked.

Having no friends.

Being too annoying to keep friends.

Ignorant SUV/4X4 drivers who drive their huge cars in the city just because they're dumbarses and don't care about killing people until its too late and they crush a small fuel efficient car, instantly killing the female occupant.

Oh you need a massively modified raised 4X4 and bullbar just to go to the shops do you? You must have a small dick cause the tiny little Ford Focus you just immensely crushed contained the occupant of a woman, who is now dead, just because you've got an ego and **** for brains and like to show off how much DEBT you are in.

Its happening too often in my part of the world!

I fear that I will be next. But I need to drive.

A road hazard tax would not be a bad thing. Drive something that is dangerous to other road users, pay more.
A truck license or such may reduce the fee, just because you need more driving skill to get them.

In Holland the road tax and riding licenses for motorbikes takes the power of the bike into account. Why just bikes?
Cars are taxed by weight and type relative fuel efficiency. So people buy frugal cars, chip tune them for power and trash them around...

Apologies, OpenSuse lists it as the default.

Auto-renewal on car insurance.

Apparently it is for my "benefit" that my car insurance is auto renewed by my insurance company without sending me a quote or price.

Er, no, because I can get a price 10% lower already in the full market and I won't know my existing company's price until it renews.

Thankfully a bill avoided.

Daily annoyances...people who stand there and chat or text or whatever while blocking the way for people who want to get by.

People who stop at right turns with yield signs and merge lanes.

Progressive insurance ads.

Simple solutions:

Quote:
People who stand there and chat or text or whatever while blocking the way for people who want to get by.
Say "Excuse me, EXCUSE ME!" repeatedly or loudly, until they move aside.

Quote:
People who stop at right turns with yield signs and merge lanes.
Blow the horn repeatedly (as with the verbal version cited above) until they wake up and drive.

Quote:
Progressive insurance ads.
Hit the "mute" button or change the channel.

All of the above techniques are known to be effective.

My horn doesn't work. I have to do some "southern engineering" to get the car past the "safety" inspections every year.

I hate inspections. It's counter to Texas' purported love for freedom and smacks of using legal means for an industry to rake in suspect cash from unsuspecting members of the public. I'm used to Taxafornia (aka California) where I can buy a pre-smog car and just write a check to the DMV every year so they can put it in the general fund and squander the money on everything but roads.

Flo is not aging well. Mute doesn't cover that up
