Well, I don't think I have an overheating problem. The scangauge just shows it running warm. The car's gauge shows it exactly where it is supposed to be. I need to get my IR temp gun on it one of these days come spring to see the actual temp.

I'll be keeping the A/C just because. I don't use it much, but its nice to know I have it. Plus, the wife likes it.

The previous mods would be my doing from a previous life.

As for the head work. I was originally thinking about doing something similar to David Vizard's PolyQuad technique. However, his work didn't show all that great of improvments in the rpm band I drive. So, I'm reading up on a few other things and haven't come to any specific conclusions yet.

the large body magnaflows are pretty quiet, especially if you get the dual offset...

also Borla mufflers are quiet too, but cost too damn much

they also have a roundie 6" dual offset muffler in 2", just like the one i was running on my car (but i run 2.25") i'd take a piece of 1.5" diameter straight about 15" or so long, then have it swedged up at one end to 2" OD to slip in the muffler for the tailpipe, the small pipe at the end will lower the exhaust velocity tune even further down the rpm range, & also help kill some more sound

unfortunatly the smallest we mandrel bend is 2.25, which is the smallest we do in stainless, or i'd help you out with a system (that fits :P )

Fiiiiiiiiiiinaly the Paseo is back on the road. The exhaust work is now done an I'm pretty happy with it, and extatic that the car is back on the road.

This is basically what I had to make to extend the exhaust over the rear axle. The last step (what I did today) was cut right in the middle of the bend and I inserted that straight piece. The radius was a bit too sharp and the axle would hit it over pretty much any bumps.

In addition to making that piece, I also had to cut the exhaust behind the cat and reweld it at an angle to straighten it out. Just add the muffler and a bit of straight pipe out the back and we're (again finally) all done.

Haha, they're definitly not pretty, but they'll hold. Welding SS isn't the easiest thing when you don't do it much, and its an akward piece to work with.

More updates for the Paseo. I took this afternoon to replace the bored out throttle body with a stock throttle body, and removed the cold air intake in favor of the stock intake minus the last length of ducting. This should give me somewhat of a warm air intake. We'll have to wait and see how warm though. My guess is it won't be much warmer than ambient.

A bit more work was done on the Paseo tonight. I brought out the coroplast and made a front grill block to improve aerodynamics. The car already coasts pretty good, but it sure can't hurt. I blocked off quite a bit of open area.


Here is a pic of what the grill looks like. I forgot to snap a pic before I started working so I took one of my other Paseo.



I got a rough cutout and hung it with some zip ties.



To cut the radiused ends I put a flashlight behind the grill and traced roughly where I should cut. I then trimmed it all up with a utility knife and kept widdling away until it was a nice fit.



After it was all said and done I added two more zip ties to the end and one in the middle to keep everything held down well. Here is the result.

Very Nice! I would never have thought of the flashlight trick. Clever.

That was more of an accident than anything actually. I was attaching the first two zip ties and had set the flashlight down in the bumper area between the headlights. As I was going along I noticed the whole grill block light up. Ended up working out great.
