Darins hard work recognized!

Unfortunately, not in the most flattering way.

The ten nerdiest ways to modify your car

Thread about this project: Project: Geo Metro boat tail prototype - 15% MPG improvement @ 90 kph / 56 mph

A few ecomodders have ended up being the laugh of the day on some sites.
The fun usually ends when they're faced with the MPG numbers of the people they take a laugh at.

To their credit, they actually did acknowledge that:

Why it's nerdcore: There are a lot of good reasons to try and make your car more aerodynamic, although certainly visibility problems come to mind when I see Darin Cosgrove's boat-tail Geo Metro. And parking the thing doesn't seem like the easiest task.
Still, where this car absolutely excels is in getting more miles per gallon. It's this brilliant but somewhat thick-headed mastery of economy that shows us that nerds do care about cars, but not always the same way as we do.
I honestly don't mind about the laughs.

But I also don't think they should have featured my cardboard-over-aluminum-tube monstrosity.

AeroCivic should always be the poster child.

I think the list is good-natured fun. And I love how often they felt the need to acknowledge the obvious know-how these projects often display. I laughed out loud at the "rolling surveillance device" and the "self-electrocution" module. I think you got a lot of respect, Darrin!

I saw that when it was posted too. What I found most interesting is that they didn't do a complete bashing, but that they admitted that we're car people too in our own..."special" way.

Or, at least THEY think we're "special" as in the following:
