In this thread you are going to read the past and the future of this car.
The story begins in august 2013. And wil contain details, photo's and lots more.

Let me begin with this first post, to tell you all about this car how i found it and describe it the way it then was.


So on the first of august 2013 i had my license plate and picked up this 4years old car. That made me the 2end owner.

I stil know the first owners of this car, so i know exactly how it was threaded.

And they where verry goed for this car.

The milage on this car was 47.000km, for 4 years, means almost 12.000 km a year, so good as NEW!!! The interior looked and felt also new.

So, engine and transmission. Its a 2008 Ssanyong kyron. There is a 2 liter 4 cilinder in line Mercedes turbodiesel in form 2001, rear wheel drive only. It has a 5 speed manual transmission.

Original engine preformance: 100kW/136hp (@4000rpm) and 318Nm (@1800rpm).

The weight of the car is a lot, it is 1900kg! (4190ponds)

Fuel consumpion given up by the manufacture:
= 6,6l/100km on highway (36,6mpg US)
= 7,7l/100km average (30,5mpg US)
= 10l/100km in city (23,5mpg US)

In the first months, i drove short distances, realy short.
I managed to get 700km out of 1 tank of 70l, that means, driving 10l/100km (23,5mpg US) !!!

Short after that, the bike came in place of the car for the short distances.

A haf year later, i changed from job and location, i needed to drive further.

I get around 800km for each tank, going to 8,75l/100km. (the lower the better).

My next post: first changes to reach a lower fuelconsumption!

Is it fitted with a manual or an automatic transmission? BTW you should start the mods getting rid of those roof rack rails.

It has a 5 speed manual transmission.

Which kind of mods would you consider to do into this rig? It seems to have a considerable amount of dead weight that you could easily get rid of...

With driving only 800km each tank. It cost me around 200 euro's each month on fuel. So. That get me started to think.

I needed to make the car more economical. The first step:

Changing driving style part 1:
Lowering highway speed from 120km/h to 100km/h.
Gains? Absolutely! Consumption went from 8,75l/100km to 7,4l! So i could drive 950 km with one tank of diesel.

Because i live in Belgium. There are some specific laws. Witch makes it extremely dificult to change stuff of your car. You may almost do nothing to it. So i keep me visually on most of those laws so i don't atrackt to many attention.

But i do the best i can do, to reach mij first target back then. At the beginning of 2014: driving 1000km on one tank of diesel :turtle:

Do you use heaters for the crank-case and transmission?

I guess you may still find some dead weight that you could take out of this rig without legal issues, starting from those roof rack rails. What about its interior trim?

I will post photo's of under the hood, the interior and the trunk. And keep telling my story until now.

@ 101Volts no i dont have those . Will I benefit if I install those? From where do i give power from? Directly from the main battery? Is it worth if i install a fuel heater on the fuel line for heating up the fuel when the engine is cold?
