Different between current & instant

Maybe a stupid question, but what's the different between current and instant values? For example, instant mph and current mph.
My guess: instant speed is what it sounds like and current is an average like "tank" values?

PS: Arduino 17 and Board with 328 Chip works well with 0.75

Current is the current trip value, instant is what you are getting that instant.

OK. And trip is resetted by buttons, or also when you stop driving (as I know there is a stand-by mode)?

Thanks

INSTANT = as it happens, in real time, displayed value changes as input changes.
CURRENT = averaged over a time period, displayed value periodically updated.

Conceptually the difference between instant/current/tank is when they reset.

instant: every 1/2 second

current: when the engine is off and car is still for 7 minutes (or when you reset it manually)

tank: only when you reset it manually

It is worth noting that there are more computations in instant figures (i.e. time between vss pulses, rather than accumulated pulses over time) to try to get a more accurate figure in that 1/2 second.
