dollars per hour

I recently installed an MPGuino and think it would be neat to store a variable that holds current fuel price and multiply it by gph to get a readout in units of dollars per hour.

I feel it would give drivers a different way to think about their consumption to give it to them straight as the rate at which their ICE is consuming money.

Oh, that makes me cringe. My truck posts fuel flows hovering from 0.4 to 8 gph. I can sometimes get below 0.4 at idle at a light, but see 7-8 gph without trying to hard while accelerating. Seeing the dollars fly by would really cause me grief!

hehe, how about keeping a running total, and pipe CH_CHING.MP3 thru your car stereo's Aux input, every time you add a dollar? is there room in the sketch for this? j/k There's a "Kill Me Now" in Quake2 we could use for every $10 milestone.

lol, well for a cheapie, you could always calibrate it in dollars instead of gallons I suppose figure out your MicroSec/Gallon and multiply it by the price of a gallon and just set it up that way. Then MPG would read Miles per Dollar, GPh would be Dollars Per hour, and the gallons used would be dollars instead.

But yah, just focusing on an instant value might give you the wrong impression (ask a P&G er)

Gosh, with a nice screen, the possibilities are endless. Fuel flow could turn into pennies dropping into a pile, until it hatches a dime, which pile up until they make a dollar, and so on. At fill-up, they could all burn merrily and write messages in smoke.

No, I wasn't; I've only had a glance at it. Do they show a little GIF of your dollars getting sucked to Redmond?

Naw, I havent seen it either, I've avoided anything newer than xp and can't even stand the updated office tools. More like "where's waldo" when you want to do anything useful.

Would have liked something involving flames and clippy though.
