Hi,
I've never experienced any trouble using synthetic oil in my '87 pickup, if that helps at all. And back in the day, my dad used synthetic in his 1980 Chevy Citation, though admittedly the Citation was only about 8 years old at the time. But synthetic hasn't hurt my truck, and it's in the pan right now.
