Easiest 30 pounds that has come off the car yet.

The right rear wheel fell off my car today on the way home to my parents house. While the weight savings is substantial, i think i am going to have to put it back on, it rides better that way.

WIN!!!!

the bearings on the rear wheel were gone. there is a retaining washer held on by a castle nut that lets you set the tension on the bearings. well apparently the bearings went and it wore through the retaining washer and then off comes the tire.

for what happened everything went well i would say. luckily i was a couple miles away from a friends house so he came and rescued me we massaged the spindle some, got new bearings and brake parts and got her back on the road.

the weird thing about it was up until then the car had no bearing noises or grinding or anything. with ho everything looked when it was already off, i am amazed that i couldn't hear or see this coming. the other funny thing, i was on the phone with my dad at the time telling him how i would like to get into the rear brakes to check everything out.
