144V electrical system provides good performance that will keep up nicely with traffic. It can go 75 MPH (the legal maximum in Arizona) and can go on the freeway.The controller uses a conventional DC motor without regenerative braking for simplicity and value. It will go between 35 and 50 miles depending on speed, your driving habits and terrain.

Deka Dominator Gel batteries and a long life AGM 12V accessory battery. The good thing about Gel and AGM batteries batteries is that they sealed and do not require ANY periodic maintenance. These batteries usually last 3-5 years depending on how much they are used.

I saw that Metro last night, and another electric Metro on Craigslist (Redwood City, CA.) but it is not a convertible ($4000., I think). I have been keeping my eyes open to find another City-el that is original electronically instead of being way overbuilt like mine.

That red Metro really looks pretty decent.

It's about the same specs as mine. The motor is a little smaller, but it's an "official" EV motor instead of a homebrew forklift setup!

You really can just put it in third and use it like drive in an automatic!

I like a 48V electric trike currently on Craigslist (jet airplane nose) but it mentioned top speed was 35 mph without upgrades and licensing. And being partial to convertibles made me decide to keep looking for another City-el.

I guess the old saying is right: Loosers Can't Be Choosers! ???
