30+ MPG Ford Explorer

I've spent the better part of two days reading this thread on another site. The OP's link to his truck us in his signature.

https://www.explorerforum.com/forums...ge-tips.44372/

Now I don't expect anyone to read through this whole thread or his truck mod thread unless they want to, but there is some great information there that could be useful to anyone looking for better mileage.

That being said, some here may not agree with some of his mods, and some may have been debunked by now (I think the thread was started almost 15 years ago and ended in 2010), but please keep any negativity to yourself. The OP died in 2010 and was a very well respected member of his forum. His methodology was, in my humble opinion, sound and he reported all his test findings whether good or bad.

I can relate to this guy (as I'm sure a lot of us here at EM can) in his attempts to squeeze every last drop out if his truck while overcoming all the obstacles that Detroit (or Dearborn in our cases) handed him in that same truck. While at the same time, deflecting all the naysayers and down right rude people he was trying to help and educate. I get the same from folks at a truck forum I frequently post on.

I'm sure a lot of what he found can be found on our "mod lists" already, but it was neat, as I was reading the whole thread, to see how he was building a similar list and documenting his progress. Even if it was specific only to his year, make, and model of truck.

If you have the time to read through its worth it. If not, just click on his truck thread link for a synopsis of his mods and links to each of them and their results.

R.I.P. Al F. You inspired many on your site and I hope you can inspire many on this site too. You have definitely inspired me.

I have seen that post before, started lurking on here about 2005 or 6 because of that post.
