Several low rider feet forward motorcycles have been built. Like a bicycle, a high CG allows more inertia to roll. Here in NYS minimum legal seat height on a motorcycle is 27 inches and 20 inches on a trike.

With all due respect, we have not reached the limits of aerodynamics for motorcycle enclosures. The Honda from the 1982 event had several problems with weight distribution and fin area. The nose was too high and the tail too short. The sides are too flat. The Burgman in the latest Vetter event was fully enclosed yet stable as crude as it was. The CoP is well behind the CG and the low nose gives some down force on the front which improves stability. The top curve is maximum for the width which allows air to flow over rather than against the cab. These are features included in the sketch I made. Is it perfect? No, but it is a reasonable starting point. Maybe someone with CFD software could model it before building an actual scooter.

A four door trike would need more power than a 50cc scooter usually produces. If the front seat is a single then one door is needed. The Deltawing is at least a proven concept and people have been building custom motorcycle trikes for some time. So a body kit and axle for a cruiser is a viable project if you have the time and money. For a HPV a tandem frame and trike rear assembly could work.

I believe the Decopod is a practical vehicle providing a modicum of increased collision safety, a fair amount of weather protection, and a much better likelyhood that typical drivers will see the vehicle.

Imagine if an abbreviated roof panel fleshed out a Decopod. No rear window. Just a slightly domed sheet to keep the rain and sun at bay. Such a design choice might prove a worthy compromise.

A Decopod is an acceptable design based on the driving impressions of Jay Leno. My preferences are slightly different and there is room for improvements. It represents a high level of metal working skills. My only question is where does the toast pop out?

1. Lower and sleeker front end.
2. Roll bar or bulkhead
3. ABS skin
Don't mean to be picky since it is a work of art.
