Wish I could afford a hub motor... or a lot of other components that would enable me to do alot of things I'd like to do. One can only do so much with leftovers, eh?

The motocross bikes use a chain. Belt drive would be fine for road use. Lots of handing advantages to not using a hub motor

Rephrasing - Wish I could afford much of anything - period, full stop, the end.

That TwinStar 185 just killed me, honestly. And I still haven't done the paperwork on it yet, let alone the 90.

On top of that, I've got a few other deals working right now that are each dependent on money I don't have, based on sales of parts that others are supposed to be buying. I hate to do it this way, but I lose the deals if I dont' start the talks before I have the money. Worst that happens is I end up not being able to get the money before the deal goes to someone else.

For slow EV putzing around the hub motor isn't a handling disadvantage.

If I ride an electric scoot like I do my 50's, I'd want to move away from the sprung weight of a hub motor. I just fitted a performance rear shock on my 60mph scooter. Our city roads are kinda bumpy though.

Lifted the needle jet and modded the pod filter today. More powerful now. Ordered a short wide intake manifold with a bigger reed cage too.

Scootering is my go fast fun, especially dragging off at the lights. If I saw a good electric road bike I'd jump at it, even $5k upwards for a good machine. Where are they?

Like the Segway, most electric applications have little usable functionality. What I mean is most electric scooters and bikes do what you can do on a bicycle, or walk even, like a segway.

Yeah, it's really not much better than a bicycle, but people including me are lazy.

It is possible to build hybrids that can accelerate faster and reach a higher top speed than a regular bicycle.

My electric bike motor tops out at almost 45mph and that's a little faster then walking! and faster then the segway! altho I currently have the batteries wired to limit the top speed to 24mph before you start to pedal because my state limits motorized bicycles to 30mph and I want to have to work a little to get to that speed.
I own it because the largest hills in town are between my house and my parents house and my house and work.
