It's not going to happen
I can find next big thing articles from a decade ago
You can have one just as soon as your LFTR home power station is ready to fill up your carbonized chicken feather hydrogen storage tank the one you need to power your fuel cell powered Aptera

Like Solar City in Buffalo, NY this project is a sink hole for funds. Neither car owners or motorcycle riders are overly impressed. The comfort and passenger - miles per gallon are not competitive. In most states you would need a motorcycle license and a helmet to operate one.
Actually if you live near a chicken farm the feathers could be used as fill in composite materials and the manure makes methane for a fuel cell. My next vehicle will likely be a Corolla but I still want to streamline my mountain bike and 50cc Honda scooter.

Behind every new hospital every new half empty strip mall every new hotel
Is the same story as above.

Only difference is no one cares.

We talk about capitalism but reality is business doesn't take risks with their own funding, they get John Q Public do it.

Crony capitalism everywhere

I'm going to have to get out my chart of logical fallacies. Excluded Middle? No.

First of all, SolarCity doesn't have a space in the middle. They are hiring and expect production this summer.

Different management is different. Plus Panasonic.

When I first started seeing news of these I was really excited. Then I saw one (for real) and sat in it at the fair for Earth Day around this time last year. It was neat, but every time I asked the Elio team showing it, questions about why they didn't do things differently to further increase its efficiency, they would completely dismiss it and change the subject. In the end, I wasn't overly impressed.

$376M needed for 2018 production start

Elio Motors Says It Needs $376 Million To Fund Production

Quote:
Elio Motors filed its latest reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the three-wheeled auto start-up’s future looks even bleaker than before: according to its latest 1-K form, filed today, Elio says it wants production to begin in 2018, but it needs $376 million to make that happen, up from the previous estimated funding requirement of $312 million.
