"Recent starting point.
After disappointing MPG, my brother and I looked over things underhood. PCV valve had been unhooked by previous owner. Vacuum plugs plugging ports on carburetor were cracked. Above all, the bolts holding the carburetor to the intake had worked loose. The entire carb was shifting around. We took care of all vacuum leaks, tightened the carb, and adjusted the air fuel mixture, and adjusted idle down.
The car felt new on the drive home. I also checked the oil the next day and dipstick was dry. Car is parked over rocks on driveway, and the oil leak is more subtantial then believed. Oil is full and I will figure out where it is leaking in the next day or 2. I expect great progress on next fill up." |
