It does surprise me that wood stoves are regarded fashionable there in England, while here in Brazil they're seen as a reminiscence from a rural past that many folks are quite ashamed. But anyway, some people still claim that food prepared in a wood stove are actually tastier.

Log and coal stoves, powered by gas, are available. Not particularly efficient but they look as good as the real thing.

Why wouldn't they just install one of those? You can probably turn it on with your iphone...exactly what every yuppy wants! Plus I doubt firewood is a common thing to get your hands on in England, let alone the middle of London.
