EPA rating?

Hi,

I am trying to find EPA ratings for my vehicle, but it is not listed on the US site.
(I think it is not imported to the US)

It is a Land Rover Defender 110, 1998 model.
300Tdi engine (2.5 liter 4 cylinder)

Anyone got an idea where to find the EPA?

thanks

Aangename kennis ... Whereabouts in the Republic are you? I lived in Jo'burg for 20 years - working for the SABC for most of that time.

My wife is from Pretoria (she's a de Wet) and has lots of family in the Western Cape - which is probably where I'd be if I had my 'druthers'! Somerset West or Gordons Bay... sigh...

Not sure you'll find an EPA for the Landy if it wasn't imported in any numbers to the US.

I'm sure this is of little use but MSN autos which is a good specifications resource lists the 1993 Defender 110 V8 as 10 city/12 highway MPG (US).

Wait...

I got you covered...

You'll only find EPA numbers if the car and engine were imported into the US.
It doesn't look like that's been the case.

Fuel Economy doesn't list it.

The listing above are likely taken from the New European Driving Cycle specs, then converted to mpg - but it doesn't work that way with the NEDC and EPA numbers.

The values in L/100km on the NEDC would appear far better than the EPA's mpg (US) - there's about 15-20% difference between the two cycles, with NEDC being hard to beat, and EPA being far more realistic and achievable.

If you match or beat the NEDC values, you're hypermiling already.
(You need to do 20% better than EPA to achieve hypermiler status here )

I live about 20km North of Brits, towards Thabazimbi. Driving to Johannesburg CBD from this week onwards....

My parents are in Pringle Bay (Just thought I'd mention that)

Not sure if its just my driving style, but I have always been at, or slightly better than those values (assumed to be NEDC)
(Averaging about 10l/100km driving "normal") - corrected for "speedo error"

Since I started applying some of the principles of Hypermiling, I've seen dramatic improvement (this week).
I only filled up last night to enable me to check the consumption (no on-board computer)

That's due to driving style and conditions.

That's the mixed average for the current Defender 110 - 9,7 L/100km .

I spent a glorious winters day in Pringle Bay last August! One of those warm, clear, perfect days... The type you don't forget in a hurry! Wish I was their now....
