Turtle Farewell, Opel Corsa

After almost 3 years of some amazing MPG's I got with this gas sipping little car, it's time to move on. It has served me extremely well but the need for bigger car as well as the fact that the A/C in it was gone (can't live without that here) has determined me to find another car. Since I don't "believe" in purchasing a new car as of yet (a combination of ridiculously priced new vehicles here on this little island as well as very rapid depreciation) I have decided to go down the road of pre-owned again and have found a very nice, good condition '03 Bora, with the 1.6 16V (you folks call them Jetta across the pond). So I'm still staying Teuton when it comes to car even though I was determined to go Nippon. It was a very good bargain.

The Bora comes with good-enough factory specs at around 33-34 MPG combined cycle and I'm hoping to improve on that, at least to around 40 or so. Considering this comes with 2 1/2 times the horse power my previous car and the difference, at least in factory specifications is less than 1l/100km I'm satisfied with that.

So, let's hope I get good results with it and most importantly , safe travels. I'll keep a detailed record of it's MPG history via the Fuel Logs.

Congrats on the new (to you) car, hopefully it will serve you well and you won't need the improved safety features (but it's always good to have them). With some extreme hypermiling you may be able to match the Corsa's FE, thought the extra power under the hood will be like the devil temping you go the wrong way

...hope you aren't going to say "...farewell..." to your car like the clowns at TOP GEAR™ did to their "low-priced" test car--by collapsing a brick tower on top of it!?!?!?

Well done on surviving without AC for so long, and good luck with the Bora.
