Look at how much room there is in the back of this thing with the seats down:

Wow! That's almost as big as the back of our SUV, just a couple of feet shorter. You could stuff a major appliance back there. (much bugger than my Metro). Best of both worlds.

I know, I know. Just Lovin this little guy.

No wonder so many hatchbacks had 2-seater versions meant for light cargo hauling. Well, I actually have never been inside an early Echo/Yaris, but I wouldn't doubt it to be at least nearly as roomy as my mom's Toyota Etios.

No idea on my gas mileage yet...I'm at 300kms and its still showing over half a tank. I never trust gas gauges on new-to-me vehicles, so I plan on filling up at 500km. That should give me room enough that if the gauge is off that I won't run out first, and I can gauge if it's out to lunch by how many litres it takes to fill. Won't be until the end of next week, at the earliest, before I get to 500. It takes a while when you only do 30km a day...

Baited breath here. (What the heck is the origin of that one??)

...

Edit... "bated", not "baited", haha!

Quote:
"Bated" is a form of "abate," which means “to diminish, beat down, or reduce.” So when you're waiting with bated (read: abated) breath, you're so eager, anxious, excited, or frightened that you're almost holding your breath. Shakespeare used the phrase "with bated breath" in The Merchant of Venice.
Learned something new today.

Look great! I loved this restoration when I did it too. A coating of UV shielding clearcoat would help preserve the new shine. Without a new UV coating the plastic will yellow again in 6 months or so. Eastwood sells a good UV protecting clearcoat that I have used for this purpose.

Kit, or DIY with wet/dry sandpaper?

3M Kit, courtesy of Princess Auto's "surplus" center months ago. Paid maybe $10 for it. This is the second set of headlights I've done with it, and plenty more left in it.

I'll give anyone doing it a hint to making it last...wet-sand at every stage and the sandpaper will not clog or wear out, and the plastic of the headlight won't over heat half as easy.

Or DIY with toothpaste?

Please clear coat it! I restored one headlight, but did not clear coat it the first time, and a couple of months later I could not tell the difference!

I had seen that there was a debate between bated and baited, but that could be the difference between people who do research and those who refuse research because they "know."
