First 900 mile tank!- VW TDI

I hit 913.8 miles today on a 13.814 gallon fill-up for 66.15 MPG in my 2001 VW Golf TDI. Most miles and best MPG for a single tank for me so far. Ive had the car since April and I love it. 70 MPG is the goal!

Very cool! Looking forward to seeing that. Have you modified your car at all? What's the EPA on that?

I think its rated at 38/44. My car is stock with 135k miles. It needs new shocks and struts so when I do that Im going to lower it slightly. I maxed out the tire pressures (51 psi), drive slow, and coast in neutral whenever possible. I havent implemented PnG yet, but I might in certain scenarios soon.

I would like to do some subtle aero mods at some point as well. Underbelly smoothing and a grille block, wiper delete, etc. My commute is 95% highway, so better aero is what I need.

Well thank you. Im going to try a couple things this new tank. Theres a short stretch of surface streets I can PnG until I get to the highway, and the final stretch of side street until I get work is perfect for about 1/2 mile of EOC. I can glide all the way into my parking spot no problem. EOC 1/2 mile/day, 6 days/week, for 3 weeks will make about .4 MPG difference. WAHOOO! lol

Congratulations on your 900+ mile on a tank! Several years ago I had a TDI Beetle and hit that mark as well. Driving style was one part - and the Vag-Com was another important part. Do you have a Vag-Com? Also, you may already know this but there is an egr mod and a crankcase vent breather mod that will help the intake stay clean and not get choked off.
