First Drive: 2009 Jetta TDI Auto - 39.3 MPG

The day when I can say "for a new car it's not that bad" hasn't come yet, but...

For a new car, not that bad. The first 5 mile or so trip ending up netting decent economy, without being used to the car or really trying, though I wish I'd been a bit more specific about the manual transmission. O well, I should be able to easily turn up much better numbers.

Got 43 mpg on the round trip to the Honda dealership,

is that the tiptronic double clutch (DSG) box of tricks transmission or the full auto??

So far I have found the mileage frustratingly poor, but I will try to use the manual shifting feature more.
