First tank = hyper miler

My new direct injected Mazda 3 almost 39 mpg on the first tank. With some city and teaching my wife to drive a manual. Had the display up to 42 mpg before she drove. She got it down to 39.7 if I am not mistaken. Tire are at stock psi which is 36.

My first Eco car plus it's fun to drive.
Also wanna ccomment my commute is very mountainous and usually 63 mph on the highway then a lot of congested city.

Drive wih load up hills, out of gear down hill till 5 under my set speed the back up to about 3 under the limit. I get to top gear as fast as I can and keep an eye on the instantmpg gauge. I use deaccel fuel cut in city. Miminual use of a/c. And cruise control on the flatter parts.

This car coasts really far.
After a few more miles and just me driving I'm aim to beat my old bikes mpg.

Have now logged
10209.5 miles.
With a life time average of 39.9mpg over 23 tanks.
In the mountains with a car rated at 31 combined.
I could do alittle better but I like to accelerate to the redline every now and then, also have done some 75-80 mph interstate merging during rush hour.

No issues with the car. Two tire rotations and an oil change all done by me.

Welcome. My last couple tanks, have tanked 30mph winds and snow plus Christmas shopping.
Been out of gear coasting the hell out if this car in traffic at low speed it glides alot better than my trucks ( manual also) ever did.
I have too fill up later and seems like a 37 mpg tank.
