Ford Ranger A/C delete

Hey all,

I found this thread while lurking one of the Ford Ranger forums. I'm no mechanic and don't profess to be one, but this thread seems to discuss how just by-passing the A/C compressor with a diffrent belt isn't the end of the "mod". Maybe some of you have already seen this or have already figured it out, but for those who haven't I thought I'd post this here. I'm not sure how to post links on here but I'll give it a try.

WTF is up with the Rangers addiction to the A/C? - Ford Ranger Forum

If it isn't a "clickable" link you can probably CCP it into the address bar.

Let me know if these guys are on track as I would like to "finish" my A/C by-pass mod.

Thanks

That sounds legit. In my car I simply pulled the fuse in the AC circuit, now it never comes on when I hit the Defrost setting, and the idle doesn't jump up.

It's really satisfying to have a car do what you want it to... no A/C, no power steering, no problem!

Removing the compressor would save a tiny bit of weight, and removing the condenser might improve engine cooling performance. Taking out the plumbing under the bonnet would tidy things up a little. I did that on a car with non-functioning A/C and the result was, I admit, more balanced towards user satisfaction than it was mpg improvement.
