VW TDi powered car.

Here is a publicity stunt that is to run this coming weekend.

Green Car Congress: Across the US on one tank of Neste NExBTL renewable diesel

The unique fuel source is interesting, but the car and power plant combination is outstanding.

I am not sure if they are going to have any announced stops for publicity opportunities. I would certainly like to peruse the car.

50 gallon tank? Why not just use a tanker truck.

Also 50 gallons to travel 2400 miles isn't anything special. A Fiat Ducato (Ram Promaster) van could theoretically make the trip on little more than 50 gallons total with one fuel stop.

Quite a few vehicles could make the same trip with 50 gallons. It's a publicity stunt, so it's more about making sure it's done with one tank.

I'll be interested to see the actual figures after the trip data is in. They mentioned the vehicle is capable of 75 mpg. I'm assuming they won't be hyper driving it for max mpg. This puts the vehicle in line with the old FreedomCar capabilities.
