My neighbor Bob made a half-height doped-dacron covered welded EMT skeleton aeroshell for his Chevy pickup. He got a few runs in,to his cabin in Colorado and back in it,to report a couple mpg improvement.
It was a 1960s IL six with auto trans.
We're talking 20 vs 18 mpg,and Bob hardly ever drove as fast as the posted speed limit,so I can't vouch for the numbers.
A crude estimate might be on the order of a 5-6.5 % improvement at 'real' highway speed.
