Gas is too damn high

Is anybody else wondering why gas prices are so high yet crude oil is really, really cheap right now? This article says it's due to refinery bottlenecks.
Oil is cheaper than it

The trouble is, I don't see any incentive for oil companies to keep refineries running smoothly if they can jack up prices like this.

Maybe gas isn't too high. Maybe people are burning too much of it.

+1. If less people burned it (I.E less idiots driving trucks for NO reason) then demand would drop and they would have to lower prices to encourage people to buy it.

High ?
It's pretty low on the crude market, and hasn't been as low in years @ the pumps here in Belgium (Europe, not WI )

For me, it's partially because we raised our state gas tax.

While we already had the highest state excise tax on gas, we just upped it seven cents per gallon earlier this month which puts us fourth highest in the country for overall tax per gallon. And we get another 4.9 cents per gallon next year.

I'd be fine with the added gas tax if we didn't piss it away needlessly. Our state DOT is horribly inefficient at building projects, regularly going significantly over budget and making large, costly mistakes.

Cheapest gas around here is 3.39, but that's for the crappie stuff. Chevron is 3.59.
