Could anyone be so kind and tell me what would be needed for converting a '92 Metro automatic to an XFi. I know obviously the transmission, shifter, pedals. But if anyone can elaborate I'd appreciate it. Thanks a lot.

To change that Metro to an XFi, you need the trans of course, but as far as the engine goes, you really only need to do a cam swap. The XFi pistons only had 2 rings compared to 3 on a non-XFi, but why bother with all that? Changing the PCM with an XFi PCM might help, but not needed.

Trans

Do any of those trans bolt up directly or are we talking swapping final drives?
And what is the final drive out of 95 and pre 95 1.0L?

Do it, you won't regret it.

Most of the clones trans swap in directly.
Don't do what I did though.
If you get a trans from a Swift you need to get the shift torque rod and related parts as well.
Lest you be cutting and welding like me and Coyote.
I highly recommend the swap though.
My trans swap (and a few related things) has put me in the 60's for a couple of tanks.
I loose it when I am all highway.
I am still trying to figure that out.
Someone (MetroMPG ?) said that is because in the city I turn it off at lights and do a lot more EOC than on the highway.
Hence better MPG. As far as ratios you have to go to CoyoteX thread and he has all that info there.

It is not possible. I tried for about a year and wasted my time. I think that what it comes down to is the engineers engineered these things for one thing (gas mileage). There is no way to mimic the engineering gone into these cars by modifying a base model.
