Glow plugs on a VW diesel
1) Go buy a 5/16ths or 8mm and a 12mm flex head gear wrench. Or use standard wrenches you cheap *******.
2) use the small wrench to remove the nuts from the strip on the glow plug power lead. When you get to the ones behind the injector pump the process goes as follows.
put wrench on nut and turn one flat, drop wrench, go to the store and get a small magnet on a stick, retrieve wrench. put wrench on nut turn one flat, drop wrench, use magnet to retrieve wrench, put wrench on nut turn one flat, drop wrench, use magnet to retrieve wrench...
or
use gear wrench and zip the little buggers off.
no a socket won't fit.
3) clean the brass strip and set it aside.
4) using the 12mm wrench remove glow plugs in a similar fashion to the nuts.
5) put new plugs in and torque to the books specific specifications, or till they are tight enough, what ever.
6) put brass strip back on and secure it.
7) try to start the car.
8) remove the nut from the left most (your right as you face the car) glow plug and put the lead from the relay back on.
