Neat tip. Here's another. If you use Firefox you can add keywords to bookmarks. Then you can make it a macro. I'd botch the explanation so read more here.
Hack Attack: Firefox and the art of keyword bookmarking

I've been using FF keywords for a couple years and absolutely love it. My URL associated with "gi" (Google Image search) looks like this.
<nomarkup>http://images.google.com/images?num=100&hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=%s&sa=N&tab=wi</nomarkup>
I just added "gi1" (for classic mode) which looks like this.
<nomarkup>http://images.google.com/images?num=100&hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=%s&sa=N&tab=wi&sout=1</nomarkup>

Cheers

I know it's not permanent and not as easy as before but so far after I've searched for quite a while myself for fixes, that's all I found.
I hope Google realizes they've made it hard for lotsa people and offer some permanent way of reverting to the old image search for those who like that more...
I'm sure that after all the messages left on google forum and other sites they will do something unless they want to lose a big chunk of their business.
Laurentieu,I'll give your trick a try. Thanks for the tip!

This arrived on Google.co.uk on Tuesday - I'm finding it quite good but the speed at which you can dismiss the zoomed image to see the original webpage is a little slow. I could see it being a PITA on a slower connection though.
