Got new tires! Setting new records!

Replaced my oem Goodyear Integrity tires after 47k miles on my '08 Cobalt XFE with a set of 195/65 R15 Michelin Energy Saver A/S.

On my first set of tires I only once got 60 mpg on my way to work.
I have had the new tires on for 2 weeks now and both today and yesterday I got over 60 mpg on the way to work.

Temps were 73F and 69F so not really that hot.
I do get better mileage on the way to work then on the way home but that's because by the time I leave for home temps have dropped. Last night temps were 58F on the way home.

Still ended up with a round trip average of 58.2 mpg which is frickin awesome for a Cobalt.

Best part is I havn't even pumped them up yet. I'm running them at 34 psi now and will be adding 3 psi per fillup. I wanted to give them a chance to break in a bit before putting them near sidewall max.

Can't wait to see what I get come next summer.

...was there a change in overall tire diameter between the OEM tires and the new Michelin's?

Tires are listed as the same size.

Though I think the rotations per mile are a little different.
I will check when I get home and list it.

VERY good route to work that allows me to do whatever speed I want between 40 - 60 mph and plenty of passing opportunities so I never end up with a line of road rage behind me.

Goodyear Integrity

836 revs per mile.

Michelin Energy Saver A/S

832 revs per mile

4 revs per mile more on the OEM makes the new tires ever so slightly larger.
But we are only talking 0.5%.

Round trip today averages out to 58.5 mpg with gives me a
140+ mile average of 58.3.

Too bad I have to run into the city in the morning during rush hour and then meet my wife and daughter at the State Fair in the afternoon.
My mpgs are gonna tank. :/

Am I correct to guess that A/S means all-season? If so, that's pretty great, since some of the newer LRR tires are summer tires and the like.

How do they hold up in the rain (and the snow )?

I've driven them in heavy rain @ 50 mph on backroads to work and they are better then the OEMs.
Have yet to be on the highway in heavy rain but I'm sure they would be fine.

Will let you know on the snow but as we usualy only get snow a couple times a year and it usualy all melts away in less then 24 hours, it's not something I'm too concerned about.

If we get 3 inches of snow around here everything shuts down for 2 or 3 days.
They usualy open schools 2 hours late on just the threat of snow.

Why bother to "brake them in" before going to sidewall max? If the tire company felt the thing was safe to x psi just air them up.
