Greetings from a far off land

Hi to all from sunny Queensland, Australia. I have long procrastinated that I would one day start an EV conversion, I guess I have just taken a step closer.
I have a particular interest in putting together an AC based conversion, and there are some good starting points in the Forum to kick this process off.. so onward and upward...

Welcome to Ecomodder!

Interesting! Do you have an idea of the route you want to take (car, battery type, etc)?

Where are you in Queensland? And which vehicle are you considering to convert?

The Coast

I live at the southern end of the Sunshine Coast, 30 minutes north of Brisbane.
I am trying to adopt a holistic view of the conversion, and being as these are really early days in the project evolution, the platform for the conversion may be influenced by what the drive system looks like. I plan on doing a proof of concept for the controller side of things using a 25kW synchronous PM motor I have, and pressing some 200 amp IGBT modules I have in stock to see how that goes.
If only someone could come up with light, inexpensive, high current density cells !!!

That's nice. BTW I'm considering to study in Australia in a few years, and Brisbane is an option as I'm seeking for a job in the aviation field.
