Grill Block ver. 2.0

I didn't like the way my first grill block looked so here is my second attempt.

It is sheet aluminum mounted to my OEM grill. Here is a picture of the mounting blocks.

For reference here is my original grill block.

Anyone know a good way to remove duct tape residue?

I've used general purpose paint thinner, but I don't imagine it's very good for the paint. What about WD-40?

Hi,

I used a solvent called Goof-Off, that I bought at Home Despot. It takes off the tape residue, and not the paint.

Re: Tape Residue...

Olive Oil OR Murphy's Soap Oil... I imagine any sort of vegetable oil would work, however.

I've used both to remove tape residue on super high end finishes - and have used both to remove leftover tape glue from my car

You'll probably need to wax afterward though - especially in the case of Murphy's

This weekend I am going to polish the aluminum. Then I will take more pictures of the piece and the mounting.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions on removing the tape.

Here are some more photos of the block. Unfortunately they were at night again. I will take more tomorrow at lunch.

I was able to mount the spacers using the existing holes in the grill.

Goo-Gone is an orange oil based (I think) sticker/gum/everything (but paint)remover that is sold at Auto Zone and Wally-World. I have used it countless times to get out of all kinds of sticky situations. Pardon the pun... not really .

BTW, that is a fine looking grill block you have there.
