Grille/no grille block??

I just had an idea I wanted to pass by every one. What if on the grille block you spaced it 1/2" off the grille so that if it's head on into the on coming air it smooths the air around the grille but the fan can suck air in around it at the same time?? I understand that cars with grilles at a backwards slant won't work very good but maybe on thoughs have the end towards the wind flat to the grille and the side away have a 1/2" to 1" space for air inlet?? Just something that popped in my head earlier that I wanted some input on! Thanks!!

I've thought about this with a brush guard, but never had a vehicle that the build would be better off trying to extend it out rather than normal.

Great idea!

That got me to thinking; what about a grill block like you describe, but something flexible so that it bends to the contour of the grill opening and blocks it while driving, but when slow or stopped, it stands out to allow more air flow?

It would be tough to get just the right amount of flex so that the fan turning on doesn't draw the block closed, but you would want it to close up on the freeway.

In my neck of the woods there are great temperature variations which also greatly affect the flexibility of materials. It would behave differently depending on outside temps.

Screens act as you describe- flowing at low speeds yet basically "clamming up" at higher speeds- without flexing.

BTW the Coupe has had fan delete for quite some time now with no issues.
