Guess the mileage II??
I've got to make a Dallas run tomorrow. I called the rent car place and asked for the cheapest and most fuel efficient car they have. So what do I end up with?
Dodge Journey
EPA highway 21
The gauge read full when I picked it up and drove it home today. It only has 1400 miles on it so it not even broken in yet. First impressions. The thing is a brick. Lots of room inside though, you could easily live in it if you had to.
The trip will be mostly highway total trip will be about 230 miles.

60 mph and it will be early so I think it will be no A/C. I'm liable to get caught in Dallas rush hour traffic through.

Is that actually the most efficient vehicle they rent, or just what they had left?

Everything except EOC.
Metro: That was they only thing they had but I called 3 days in advance It will end up costing 2x as much in fuel if they would have given me a Focus or something much smaller.

I'm guessing 25.5mpg.
This is assuming that the traffic is dense but well negotiated and that the 21mpg rating is accurate for the particular journey that you have. I'm not sure if they are giving you a 2WD, AWD or 4WD model.

From the highway EPA number given, that would be a 4x4.

27.6 ... I feel like this is the price is right ... lol
That would be hilarious if you removed the rack and returned it with overinflated tires, a full front end full of blue tape due to grille blocking, synthectic oil in the engine and tranny, plus wheel skirts.
With your answer being, "Yep, it's the most economical thing I have ever rented from here .. thanks ..."

Well I made my trip up there. The car is nice. Lot's of room, quite, comfortable ride but it is a brick. The transmission wants to down shift at the smallest grade. It takes a very light foot to keep it in 6th. Coasting was not the best in or out of gear. I did have about 30 minutes of rush hour stop and go and I did not add any fuel when I picked it up because the gauge was reading full. It was also cool enough that I could run without the AC.
Totals: 235.6 miles @ 8.3 gallons for 28.38 mpg. Looks like c0da got pretty darn close. W00T
