Has a diesel car done as well as the Aerocivic
Anyone put together a diesel based vehicle that has matched or bettered the Aerocivic?
I'm a diesel guy at heart, do own a Honda; maybe I need to be steered in the right direction.

VW has a 1L/100kM concept which would destroy the aerocivic. But no, there has been no home made aeroTDIs.
A properly geared diesel with the extreme aero modifications would easily get more MPG than the aerocivic.

Keep the honda, put in a TDI. Win.
I'm planning this with a Festiva if I end up buying it. It will be 50% win, 50% awesome, and 50% hell yeah.
A diesel 92 Festiva is allowed to have 150%. It's in the rules. Look it up.

Told you it was in there...
Except mine would only get 130%... It would only be a TD... Still an IDI motor.

Ferdinand Piech can afford the concept, I know I can't. basjoos is a hero, big endorsement. I just thought someone here did what he did with my favorite engine.

You can get that 20% back with twin turbos and 100 mpg at 70 mph!

Actually, there is a diesel which comes very close: Groar's Megane. Here are the stats as of today:
Aerocivic LB: - EPA Rating (% over): 39 (79.2051%)
- 90-day Fuel Economy: 69.89
- 3-tank Fuel Economy: 71.79
Megane: - EPA Rating (% over): 35.1 (92.3647%)
- 90-day Fuel Economy: 67.52
- 3-tank Fuel Economy: 68.65
It should be noted that the Megane is not as heavily modded as the Aerocivic, and that Groar occasionally has to drive without any aeromods. A full AeroMegane could easily have triple-digit MPGs, beating MetroMPG's Blackfly. Unless Darin makes a permanent boattail.

I am currently in search of a partially wrecked TDI to turn into a reverse trike with a full tail etc. I hope for 80+ MPG

The Avion is an aeromodded diesel, although they designed the body from scratch rather than aeromodding an existing vehicle. It currently has the diesel from the diesel Smart Fourtwo in it and gets 80mpg at 70mph and 114mpg at 55mph. Its a smaller and lighter car than the Aerocivic with an aluminum chassis and seats 2 people. Their website is http://www.100mpgplus
