The Swift - '00 Swift

Hello from Eastern Washington.

All this time there are people like me who try their damndest to get a few miles out of gas.
I own a 00' Suzuki Swift (2 door, standard trans) that gets about 48mpg. The wife drives a '01 Metro (4 door, auto) that varies in the 30's. I also have a 95' swift just like mine that I use for parts since the transmission is bad.
I also have a Ford Escort that I converted to electric about ten years ago. The battery pack only lasted five years and the price was expensive to replace the Optima Yellow Tops. I paid $97 per battery back then but now they want $180!
I am currently converting the Escort to use regular flooded batteries and going up from 96 volts to 120 volts. I hope to have a range of 60 miles.
I use to design and build electric and hybrid vehicles in college. Now I am an engineer in an unrelated field.

From your name you must be a Rocky Horror fan. Excellent.

My friends first gave me the name because my mother-in-law thinks I am Satan. But yes, I am a fan of the movie too.

So that's at least two things you are doing right.

Thanks for the welcome guys. This would be the perfect time to post what I am doing on my E.V. since I am upgrading the voltage by replacing the batteries and welding up new battery boxes to accommodate the new batteries.
I have been taking pictures of what I am doing so I probably post a log.
