Hello from Florida.
Well first of all my name is Michael and I'm 17 years old. I've had my license since late April / early May and I drive my parents 1989 Jeep Cherokee Laredo.
Second of all my dad used to ride motorcycles years ago so I was taught to be a defensive driver since I had my permit which has in turn led to fuel efficient driving.
Already I can time my coasting so half the time the light turns green just before I arrive and usually cruse at 2 to 3mph above the speed limit. I used to have fun punching it at every light but after an average of 11 mpg I had to start driving somewhat sanely, but it's become quite an addiction to hunt for those few mpg's here and there.
My dad was once able to get 24mpg out of our Jeep and currently I'm averaging 20 to 21 mpg 100% city driving which I'd say isn't too bad for an almost 20 year old stock suv.
Although my current goal is to surpass 24mpg. With no modifications to anything except my driving style.
