Help me pick

So we have/are moving out of the bush here in over the last/next month or so. Right now we have a 99 4 door Ford Escort "sport" and a 95 Honda civic DX hatch. Both are manual. Which of the two would be capable of bigger MPG numbers with some mild aero mods and careful driving; grill block, belly pan, outside mirror revise, and rear wheel skirts MPguino civic or SG for the ford. For the civic a mild kammi back, for the ford spoiler delete. If the spoiler on the ford reduces drag it can stay other wise it's gone because A) it causes drag B) it looks dumb to have a spoiler on a 4 cylinder road car.

Where are you moving to and do you know what kind of commute you will have? Will it be city or highway etc? Look at the EPA numbers and go from there but I'm guessing the Honda.

moving to Central Alaska. A small 4x4 truck is on the list too for hauling newly acquired furniture, landscaping supplies, hauling trash, dealing with the snow. For the cars I will likely have a commute 65mph for 45 miles with 5-10 miles city. EPA says the civic beats the ford by 4mpg. Which would likely respond better to the mods I listed?

Civic hatch ftw.

Btw, is that 45mi each way, or per day?
